Keeping your pets safe this halloween

dogs in masksA few years ago, I was out with my neice and nephew just after Halloween. Gemma, my Golden Retreiever, was left at home and found her way into a pillow slip bag of Halloween booty in one of the kids bedrooms. She chewed a hole in the bag and then proceeded to chow down. We came home to a disasterous scene in the bedroom, the carpet stained with food coloring from the candys etc.  So, knowing this "remedy", I headed out to the front yard dog in hand....  presto!  A few minutes later.... the booty reappeared, Smarties, in their mini boxes!, Tootsy Rolls, Suckers, still on their sticks, chocolate bars still in wrappers, you name it!

1 dose of this is enough to deal with a 80 - 90 lb.golden retreiver. Use your judgement with smaller dogs.

Fll the bulb of a turkey baster 3/4 full with 3% Hydrogen Peroxide, top it up with water. Stand behind your dog, with your knees on either side of his/her shoulders, lift its chin so that he/she is looking straight up at you, open the mouth with one hand and bring the turkey baster forward with your other hand. Insert said turkey baster into the mouth and empty the contents into the dogs throat. Hold the mouth shut, the dog will have to swallow.

This can be a bit frothy and foamy. Do it outside. Within 1 minute, the dog should vomit so be outside!

I keep Hydrogen Peroxide on hand 12 months of the year. Check the website, its not just for chocolate episodes.  Its Skunk Season!
